Let's continue with the concept cars at the Frankfurt Motor Show ..


... and go on with the Ford Evos Concept, Fords new vision for customer-focused and intuitive technoligies.

Straight at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2011 Stephen Odell, Chairman and CEO of Ford Europe, said that "we have continued to invest in our future - a future we believe promises opportunity and growth." and debuted their dramatic four-door, four-seat fastback concept with state-of-the-art lithium-ion plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The new Concept looks with no doubt futuristic, in todays eyes, but doesn't everything new looks "strange" in the beginning? Fords new global product strategy will compare outstanding design with smart technologies and a fuel economy leadership. A clear demonstration of the visions Ford has for the future. Not only their future, but more or less our all future.

Some of you might shout out a "Luckily!" cause you will never see this concept on the road the way it is exhibited at the Frankfurt Motor Show at the moment, but it's helpfull for the designers and engineers for the upcoming new Ford models and the EVOS is just a mix of what could be.

This concept is also like a playground for the "Tech-Guys" at Ford to create applications that entertain the driver's and passengers. They don't want to turn the new models into smartphones on four wheels, they jsut want to provide personalised and safe connection to the outside world. They also want to create unique, unexpected features that surprise and delight the peoples. The connectivity between the vehicle and the driver’s ‘personal cloud’ of information is at the heart of the vision for its capabilities. So the car knows the driver, and automatically adapts handling, steering and engine controls to deliver an exceptionally dynamic driving experience - some sweet sounding visions!

Ford ‘powersplit’ hybrid architecture allows the electric motor and petrol engine to work together or separately to maximise efficiency. The advanced powertrain typically runs in all-electric mode before switching to charge-sustaining hybrid mode for continued optimal fuel efficiency. The cloud-optimised powertrain would automatically ‘know’ when to save energy and switch modes, using information about the vehicle’s predicted travel route, any emission zone restrictions during the journey and current weather conditions. This capability would further enhance the performance of Ford´s advanced PHEV technology,
with which an overall driving range of more than 500 miles (800 kilometres) using the battery
and engine is aspired - more than any other plug-in or extended-range electric vehicle.

The concept car measures 4.50m (177in) long, 1.97m (77in) wide and 1.36m (53in) high, with a
wheelbase of 2.74m (108in).
