FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW: Volkswagen

At the 64th International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt (September 15 to 25), Volkswagen is presenting – alongside the new up! that is the show highlight – a tremendous assortment of new car concepts and models. Making world debuts are the Beetle R Concept, Beetle Fender, Polo R-Line, Tiguan R-Line, Golf Cabriolet Exclusive and the Phaeton Exclusive Concept. And that is just the beginning: another car making its world debut on the Frankfurt stage is the single-seat electric vehicle concept car NILS – a car for the world of tomorrow. Meanwhile, the Polo R WRC illustrates how motorsport cars are progressing at Volkswagen.


Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is also represented with its latest range of successful models. Highlights here include debuts of the Caddy Edition 30 and the Amarok with automatic gearbox. Another show highlight is the extremely fuel-efficient Multivan BlueMotion.

Volkswagen Zubehör (Accessories) completes the company’s product line-up with new and innovative original accessories and lifestyle-related products. Being presented for the first time in Frankfurt are accessories collections for the Beetle and the new up!. An overview of new concepts and models from Volkswagen and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles:

NILS – Study of a single-seat electric vehicle with free-standing wheels, developed for commuters in the world of tomorrow.

Beetle R Concept – Study of the sportiest Beetle ever.

Beetle Fender – A tribute to Fender guitars. Highly customised concept car that relates to the world of music.

Polo R-Line – For the first time, Volkswagen will also be offering the compact and agile Polo in an R-Line version at the end of this year.

Tiguan R-Line – The first generation of the Tiguan R-Line was a bestseller. The new edition of the R-Line SUV will follow at the beginning of 2012.

Golf Cabriolet Exclusive – Starting from 2012, the Exclusive will be sold as the new top version of the Golf Cabriolet.

Phaeton Exclusive Concept – To mark the 100th anniversary (2012) of the handcrafting company Poltrona Frau, Volkswagen has created one of the most elegant Phaetons ever built.

Polo R WRC – Volkswagen wants to use this 300 PS Polo to score victories in the Rally World Championship in 2013.

Caddy Edition 30 – This Caddy shows how elegant a small family van can be on road trips (for details: see separate press kit from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.)

Amarok with automatic – Considered the most advanced pick-up on the market. Now the Amarok will feature an 8-speed automatic gearbox (for details: see separate press kit from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.)
