Car of the Week: "Godzilla" Nissan GT-R R35 |
Hey Guys
Now the first Car of the Week in 2012: one of my favorite Cars (not only in real), the Nissan GT-R R35.
A sexy, elegant and super sporty two-door coupé with a long family tradition. That's Nissans new GT-R, which was released in Japan in December 2007, in the United States in July 2008 and the rest of the world in March 2009. The large disparity in initial marketing between these regional releases is due to Nissan having to build GT-R performance centers where the car is serviced.
About one year ago a revised GT-R went on Sale. It has a more Power than the 2007/2009 one (540 HP instead of 478 HP), improved interior quality, larger inlets and a revised exhaust system new more rigid front strut bar made from carbon composite, larger front brake rotors, new lighter and stiffer wheels, and revised Dunlop tires.
The R35 will be replaced in 2013.
After two concept Cars, one displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2001 and the second one at the same Motor Show in 2005. 80-90% of the actual GT-R are based on the "GT-R Proto". In 2007 the production version was released.
The R35 won some Awards, like the "EVO Magazine Car of the Year" in 2008, "World Performance Car" in 2009 or "Motor Magazine Performance Car Cup Winner" in 2011.
The GT-R has also retained its Skyline predecessor's nickname Godzilla.
Sure the GT-R also participates in several Motorsport Series like "Super GT", "FIA GT1 World Championship", "SCCA World Challenge" and some more.
Of course there are also several Aftermarket Tuning Packages and modifications available.
