Car of the Week: Aston Martin DBS

Spring, Sun, whats better than a DBS Volante? So here this weeks Car, the Aston Martin DBS.

Officially unveiled at Pebble Beach in August 2007 the delivery of this high performance GT sports car began in the first Quarter of 2008. Replacing the Aston Martin Vanquish S it's built at the plant in Gaydon, Warwickshire.


With its 5.9 Litre V12 engine you do the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.3 seconds. The maximum speed is at 310 km/h (190 mph). According to dates of Aston Martin you need in average on a Highway 13 l per 100 km and 20 l in a City.

In 2007, the British motoring show Top Gear sent the DBS around their famous test track and recorded a lap time of 1:23.9; 3.2 seconds faster than its predecessor the Vanquish S, and a second faster than the comparable Bentley Continental Supersports.

Except a lot of alcantara leather and carbon fibre and piano black goodies Band&Olufsen developed a 1000-Watt sound system with an integrated iPod conncetor.

The roof of the in 2009 introduced Volante opens electronically controlled in 14 seconds and also opens or closes up to a speed of 48 km/h /30 mph).

There are two special editions available. The "Carbon Black" edition includes an obsidian black interior with silver stitching, lightweight seats, a Touchtronic gearbox and a carbon black paint job. The "UB-2010 Limited Edition" celebrates the first decade of Dr. Ulrich Bez as the CEO of Aston Martin Lagonda Limited. There are only 20 coupes and 20 convertibles available. These models feature an Azurite black exterior color, blue brake calipers and a bronze-colored interior.

To continue the long history of Aston Martins in James Bond films the DBS was first seen in "Casino Royale" in 2006 with Daniel Craig. The classic Aston Martin DBS was featured in James Bonds "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" movie in 1969.
