Car of the Week: GMC Vandura

Hey Guys
Is there a more famous Car of a TV series on this planet? * Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think so... the GMC Vandura, better known as the "A-Team Van", is todays Car of the Week!

* besides KITT and Herbie :-)

Even before the third Version of the Chevrolet Van was available to buy for normal people, in 1983, it was driven by John "Hannibal" Smith (George Peppard), Templeton "Face" Peck (Dirk Benedict), H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock (Dwight Schultz) and Bosco Albert "B.A.," or "Bad Attitude" Baracus (Mr. T).

With the model year 1983 a 6.2l V8 diesel was available (up till then a 5,7l V8 was the regular engine, but also 4,3l V6 up to a 7,4l V8) as well as square headlamps and new steering wheels.

Very peculiar for the TV Van is the red stripe, the black and red turbine mag wheels and the rooftop spoiler. In some episodes the Van had a sunroof, some not. For stunts they sometimes used a Ford Econoline with red hubcaps, to not destroy the Original Van.

The Chevrolet/GMC Van originally is on markets since 1964, with the first generation, till 1966. Generation Two followed in 1967 and was again replaced by the third generation in 1971. Succeeded by the Chevrolet Express/GMC Savana in 1996.
