Hey Guys

On this Place (What do you want to know ... about CARS?) I'm collecting all your Questions, so please comment your Q's there and not here. OR on my Facebook Wall, of course!

So, let's start with the first one and explain "What does 'horses' mean?"

What a good question!

The description of "horses" goes pretty much back in the beginning of the Auomobile. When there were no Cars people used Horses to power and move their Carriages. 1 HP = Horse Power, like 1 PS = Pferdestärke (german) - horse stength.

So this means that one Horsepower is needed to lift a mass of 75 kilogram over a distance of one meter horizontally within 1 second.

Nowadays is an Indication in kW more common, but the "PS", "HP" is still common in Europe, Japan, India and South America.

1 PS is equivalent to 735,49875 W or 0,735 kW.

I hope you enjoyed this first one, so much will follow. The next one on May 7th! Want so suggest a Q? Go here.
