Automotive Interiors Expo Awards 2012

Hey Guys
Up from today, until Thursday, the "Automotive Interiors Expo" is held in Stuttgart, Germany. For the first time they hosted an Award to honor "the world's finest designers, innovations and products in the automotive interiors arena".
Originally I planned to go to the Fair, but the busy girl I am, I had no time ... Anyways, here nor the Winners of this years first Award:

Supplier of the Year – Johnson Controls

The jury was asked to vote for the company who they felt had contributed the most to the industry over the last 12 months. Suppliers were judged not only on product innovation, but also profitability, environmental achievements and commercial success, such as identifying and establishing new manufacturing and R&D centres and winning new business.

Concept Vehicle Interior Design of the Year – Pininfarina for the Cambiano

Only concept vehicles launched in the last 12 months qualified for inclusion and only those with interiors that were nominated for being innovative in terms of design and occupant appeal.

Concept Interior Innovation of the Year – Johnson Controls and Harrison Spinks for ComfortThin

Again, only concept vehicles launched in the last 12 months qualified for the shortlist, but aesthetics did not matter in this category. The jury was asked to vote solely for the technology or technical design innovation that they felt pushed the boundaries and could and should become a production reality in the not too distant future.

Production Vehicle Interior Innovation of the Year – Lexus for the GS

Only production vehicles launched in the last 12 months qualified for the shortlist, but aesthetics did not matter in this category. The jury was asked to vote solely for the technology or technical design innovation that they felt pushed the boundaries and could and should become standard fare in as many vehicles as possible, as soon as possible.

Comfort Innovation of the Year – Peugeot for the 208

This category shortlisted technologies and production concepts that the jury felt improved the passenger experience, be it in terms of air temperature, driver anti-distraction technologies, infotainment, materials, passive safety or seating.

Interior Designer of the Year – Michael Mauer, Porsche

The shortlist was created by automotive designers and interior specifiers worldwide who were asked to nominate the designer who they believed had not only made the largest contribution to improving cabin quality, innovation and environment over the last 12 months, but whose efforts on a subjective and aesthetic level were judged to be industry leading or indeed changing. They were not allowed to nominate themselves or a colleague employed by the same company.

Interior Production Vehicle Design of the Year Porsche for the new 911

Only production vehicles launched in the last 12 months qualified for inclusion and only those with interiors that were nominated for being innovative in terms of design and occupant appeal.

Among the Judges were several automotive Journalists, just like Michael Taylor (Autocar, AutoWeek,..), Greg Kable (Auto Bild, Motor Magazine,..), Marco Marelli (La Stampa, Italiaracing.net,...) or Juergen Zoellter (Autobild, Focus,..)
