BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coup´at Villa d'Este for Concorso d'Eleganza 2013 |
Hey Guys
To fit perfectly to the luxorious environment BMW unveiled the whole outcome of their first collaboration with Pininfarina at the grounds of Villa d'Este during the Concorso d'Eleganza at Lake Como in Italy on Friday evening, the Pininfarina BMW Gran Lusso Coupe.
Pininfarina's task was it to add their distinctive signature to a high-end luxury Car. Typical BMW proportions like a long wheelbase, stretched bonnet and set-back greenhouse were completed by Pininfarinas eye for the special thing.
"The BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupé has an extraordinary impact. It expresses hallmark BMW values such as luxury and sheet presence in a highly elegant form. (...) Their understanding of Design perfectly complemenrs BMW design DNA for a vehicle of this kind", says Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design.
The front has, for sure, a bold kidney grille, forming the typical BMW "shark nose". When you look close you notice the detail work: the front part of the bipartite kidney grille is made of matt-sheen aluminium, while behind it an identically shaped part in high-gloss black adds visual depth.
The flat headlights underline the road-focussed look.
In the Interior finest leather and Kauri wood (aged more than 48,000 years) lend the cabin of the Gran Lusso Coupé a special aura.

For the Designer of both Teams it was really important to create the right proportions for a powerfull but damn exclusive and athletic car. The V12 badge on the side definitely expresses that the Gran Lusso Coupé has the right genes!
Personally, it haven't stolen my heart like the 4-series Coupé Concept did, but we'll see how this Concept will turn out into a real one...
Here some Pictures taked today, Saturday, at Villa d'Este, while waiting for the Grand Concorso d'Eleganza to start!
