Car of the Week: Toyota Corolla AE85

Hey Guys
After such a long time, finally, a new "Car of the Week" shot just yesterday in Friedrichshafen at the beautiful Lake of Constance with the best sun, the Toyota Corolla AE85.

The AE85 is also known as Toyota Corolla Coupe AE85 or Toyota Corolla Levin and Sprinter Trueno (Japan) or Corolla GT-S (US) and was once built from 1983 to 1987.
The AE85 shares the same chassis and the basic design with the AE86, while the AE85 was designed for economic driving the AE86 was made for performance driving. Both models were rear-wheel driven and available as Coupé and Hatchback.

The Levin had a fixed headlight front while the Trueno had pop-up lights. The Levin was once just available at "Toyota Corolla Stores", the Sprinter Trueno at "Toyota Vista Stores". Trueno is spanish for thunder, the old english "levin" means lightning, in Japan the AE86 was known as Hachi-Go (ハチゴー), meaning "eight-five" in english.

For just 19.990 DM (Deutsche Mark), so something about 10.000 € ($ 13,300) you were able to buy the Toyota Corolla GT up from November 1984 in Germany. 1.6-liter four-valve engine, producing 91 kW (124 hp) in combination with a fancy hatchback - can you imagine something like this today, for just 10k? It would be a dream...
