Hey Guys

Here some first LIVE Pictures of the brand new Mercedes-Benz Concept S-Class Coupe, presented just some minutes ago at the huge Mercedes-Benz Press Conference at Frankfurt Motor Show.

Available to buy up from 2014 the Mercedes-Benz Concept S-Class Coupe will be more than just another model of the in 2013 launched S-Class Saloon. The S-Class Coupe is Mercedes' Vision of modern luxury paired with modern safety and, of course, an outstanding design.

As Dr Joachim Schmidt, Member of the Management Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Sales & Marketing just said at the Press Conference "On the S-Class Coupé as the traditional top of our product range the designers take advantage of their additional freedom and thus create an automotive masterpiece".

Gorden Wagener, Vice President Design at Daimler AG, adds: "The Concept S‑Class Coupé combines tradition and emotion, and is a symbol for the embodiment of our design style of sensual clarity. The perfected design with self-assured style and the highly exclusive appointments make the coupé a true design icon and an expression of modern luxury“.

To get the viewers of the - very crowded - press conference into the right mood some artists were dancing, flying from the ceiling and they played nice music in the background. Then, it entered the stage, as the 5th Car of this Presentation. The first surprise was that it's really driving. As most of the Concept Cars are just displaying the design future of a certain brand the Concept S-Class Coupe was driving by itself on the Stage.

The S-Class Concept makes the S-Class definitely look more fresh and overall younger, with brand-typical proportions and lines reduced to the basics. In the front there is a  three-dimensional and further evolved diamond radiator grille, whose structure is defined in this case by rectangular, dark chrome-plated elements. In the rear are broad shoulders and by moving the license plate holder to the lower bumper section it allows positioning the tree-pointed star more prominently on the smooth boot lid.

In the Interior you find some high-technology developments such as a world clock which was designed and implemented by designers and engineers at the Mercedes-Ben Advanced Design Center in Palo Alto, USA. The central command unit on the centre console looks like a shiny jewel. Its extremely high-quality "black diamond" surface creates depth of field. The "black diamond" method uses the chemical CVD (chemical vapour deposition) gas phase process to deposit a precious metal on a high-sheen chrome surface at temperatures of 1000°C. The metal reacts with the surface to form a layer that is highly scratch-resistant and has a high adhesive strength.

Under the hood there is a V8 biturbo with 455 hp (335 kW) with a peak torque of 700 Nm. The Concept S-Class Coupé is equipped with the "Intelligent Drive" technology. Thanks to two "camera eyes" the stereo camera can get a three-dimensional view of the area up to about 50 metres in front of the vehicle, and as "6DVision" can detect the position and movement of objects. It monitors the surroundings ahead of the vehicle over a range of up to 500 metres. These data are combined with the data from the radar and ultrasound sensors. A multitude of assistance systems monitors the surrounding traffic for the driver. This helps to reduce the burden on the driver and other road users are also protected.

I forecast the world premiere of the production ready Mercedes-Benz S-Class Concept around Geneva Motor Show in March 2014.
